Well done to all of the students who entered poems into the Stephen Spender Trust poetry translation competition last year
Whitelands Academy were recognized for entering the third most entries out of the participating schools. Thank you to Miss Walsh for all of her work submitting the entries and for giving our students the opportunity to get involved.
Alongside this year's winners and highly commended entries for the prize, additional commendations are awarded to students who narrowly miss out in each category. We are delighted that Meryem Alver (8C) was one of the students receiving a special commendation in the 14 and under category this year. Meryem wrote a beautiful English translation of a popular Turkish poem, Mona Rosa. The names of all commendees will appear in this year's prize booklet, which will be available in print and online later this autumn and will also be shown at the Celebration Event in November this year. Congratulations to Meryem!
