Statement of Entry

All candidates will receive a Statement of Entry from school (issued no later than March). This document outlines the subjects and levels of entry for each student.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to check the Statement carefully, ensuring that:

  • All subjects and levels of entry are correct.
  • Personal details (legal forename, legal surname, and date of birth) are accurate.

Please note:

  • Some subjects have only one tier of entry; others offer Foundation and Higher tiers.
  • Certificates will display the exact details provided. Errors may be very difficult to amend once certificates are issued.

Examination Regulations

  • Students must attend in full school uniform.
  • Candidates must remain silent once inside the examination room. Any communication may be treated as malpractice.
  • Only approved items may be brought into the examination room. Breaches of regulations can result in disqualification.

Prohibited items include:

  • Mobile phones
  • Smartwatches & Smart Devices
  • Tablets or any web-enabled devices
  • MP3 players or storage devices

These should ideally be left at home. If brought to school, they must be switched off and stored in bags or handed in for safekeeping.

  • If any electronic device is found in a candidate’s possession (even switched off), it will be confiscated, and a report will be sent to the examination board. The school cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss.
  • Food is not permitted in the examination room. Water is allowed in a small, clear plastic bottle with the label removed (no tinted or filter bottles).
  • Bags and coats are not permitted in the exam room. Valuables should not be brought to school as the Academy cannot take responsibility for personal belongings.

Candidates must:

  • Listen carefully to invigilator instructions.
  • Ensure they have the correct question paper (subject, paper, and tier).
  • Not begin writing until instructed.
  • Complete all candidate details (candidate number, legal forename, and legal surname) on answer booklets and supplementary sheets.
  • Candidates may not leave the examination early. If finished, they should use remaining time to check answers.
  • Question papers, answer booklets, and additional sheets must not be removed from the examination room.

Evacuation Procedure

If the fire alarm sounds:

  • Candidates must remain calm and follow invigilator instructions.
  • They will leave in silence, in the order directed, leaving all exam materials on their desks.
  • Examination conditions remain in force throughout the evacuation.
  • On return, candidates must wait for the invigilator’s instruction before resuming.
  • Full working time will be given, and a report will be submitted to the exam board.

Examination Tips & Support

Examination Certificates

  • Certificates must be collected and kept securely, as they are required for future employment and education opportunities.
  • The Academy is legally required to retain certificates for 12 months only. After this period, uncollected certificates may be destroyed. Replacements from exam boards are costly and time-consuming.
  • Certificates must be collected in person by the student. If this is not possible, a nominated person may collect them on the student’s behalf with signed written permission.
